Effect of alginate oligosaccharide and seaweed extract on tomato seedling growth

1. Purpose of the experiment

The aim of this experiment was to investigate the growth-promoting effects of alginate oligosaccharides and seaweed extract on seedling plants.

2. Experimental steps

(1) The selection of sage tomato seeds as experimental varieties, will be cultivated in the seedling tray to 4 true leaves stage, selected similar size, the same growth, healthy seedlings into 3 groups for hydroponic experiments.

Group A added alginate oligosaccharide (the concentration of prepared oligosaccharides liquid was 30,000 times) to the culture solution every 7-8 days for 3 days, and usually cultivated with plant culture solution.

Group B added seaweed extract (the concentration of prepared seaweed extract liquid was 2,000 times) to the culture solution every 7-8 days for 3 days, and usually cultivated with plant culture solution.

Group C was cultivated with plant culture solution for the whole period. The water was changed every 3 days.

(2) After 1 week of cultivation, in terms of the length of the main root, the number of lateral roots and the thickness of the stem, the fucoidan effect of group A is the best, group B is second, group C is not good in comparison; in terms of the height of the seedlings, group A is slightly higher than group B, and the height of the seedlings of group A and B is significantly higher than group C, which is obvious in comparison; in terms of the growth of the growth of group A and B is significantly better than that of group C; in terms of the foliar colour, the difference between the three groups is not significant at this stage

(3) Experimental findings

 Alginate oligosaccharide and seaweed extract promote tomato seedling growth.

Alginate oligosaccharide has a small molecular weight and is fast acting;

Seaweed extract is highly effective and long lasting.
